Double Date Night Livestream Concert

For a Valentine’s Day-type celebration, our dear friends Steffi & Tim were planning on broadcasting the same evening that we were, so we decided to collaborate on a really fun “Double Date Night Livestream Concert” event. Tim suggested that we try to use the open source Jamulus audio software, which after a few rehearsals allowed us to remotely synchronize our computers and allowed us to play and sing together simultaneously. It was like magic, and quite frankly blew my mind. Even after the lockdowns end, this software will save us hours of driving to rehearsals by allowing remote & zero-commute sessions. Together we performed “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson as well as a love medley that we had a bunch of fun with 💛 It was so enjoyable to collaborate live with other musicians again, something that we haven’t been able to do for almost a year now.

After Steffi & Tim’s set & then the Jamulus collaboration, we went live for our half of the concert over on our Facebook page. It was our 30th livestream concert since we started last March. I think I finally figured out the audio settings in OBS that gave us enough compression & limiting to get our output audio close enough to being what I want. Just in time for us to quit using OBS and switch over to Streamyard for next month’s livestream ^_^
