WBOC DelmarvaLife Studio Performance - Dill Seeds and Daydreams

Yesterday we were so happy to perform our new song Dill Seeds and Daydreams for WBOC’s DelmarvaLife program in Salisbury, MD (presented on the Mid South Audio stage). We wrote this one together during the lockdowns as part of February Album Writing Month. I believe we started this song when Shane Palko was hanging out late one night. All we really had to start from was my idea for the first line of the chorus (which became the title). We like alliteration. It’s not often that Erin and I cowrite a song like that, but this one worked out well. We revised it a bit more in March and have loved performing it at recent gigs.

It’s always an amazing opportunity to perform on TV, but this was also a challenge for us, since it required us to leave our house by 6 o’clock in the morning. Screaming along to some Dashboard Confessional on the car ride downstate helped us to warm up our voices.

Let us know what you think!

‘Dill Seeds and Daydreams’

Make your way to me, past the old grape vines
I'll be waiting in the shade of the fruit trees
Greet the bumble bees on the flower buds
Come and lay your head in the hammock with me

Dill seeds and daydreams
Will you plant this garden with me?
Marigolds and memories
Let's build a life we can keep

If we do this right, we can stay awhile
Growing tall and strong, like sunflowers leaning
Against the fence we built on a hot summer day
Living life with you and it feels like we're dreaming

Dill seeds and daydreams, marigolds and memories
Will you plant this garden with me?
Deep roots and reveries, twine through the years
We’ll build a life we can keep

(Violin)

Dill seeds and daydreams
Will you plant this garden with me?
Marigolds and mem'ries
Let's build a life we can keep
